Ok, so I’ve been reading up on what’s supposed to happen to me this year. I’m not superstitious, just interested.

My numerology number is 5, which means I’m supposed to reach out and meet new people, grab life by the reins and start something new.

It’s the year of the ox, and since I was born in the year of the dog, I’m supposed to start my enterprise or ideas, but I’ll have to work hard to get them to happen. The phrase “work hard” seems to permeate the whole idea, which is what an ox does, so I get it.

I’m a scorpio, so this year is also going to be full of interesting people and chances to make a good impression.

See a theme here?

So far, this year has been very surprising, and yes, I have met a lot of new people. I’ve always worked to be happy, so I figure that won’t change much.

Unfortunately horoscopes and predictors never tell you that this year is the year you’ll be afraid. Maybe it does, in that change can be both good and bad.

Anyway, as I was looking forward to finishing my book and getting it published, working on my ultimate costuming goal of making an impression on the people at DragonCon in September, and getting back in touch with some of my family, I went in for a routine checkup from the doctor.

Long story short - might have cancer. I’m having a biopsy sometime this week to find out. I haven’t told anyone I know except for my husband, because it just seems too surreal. I’m told there’s a very good chance it isn’t cancer, but surgery is probably the answer, either way. I thought I’d be more worried than I am.

I’ll post when I find out something. In the meantime, I plan on making things as positive as possible around me, and working as hard as I can to change things for the better.

I keep thinking I’ll get back to posting about my trip to Ireland, but the pictures don’t seem to be loading, and so much more has happened! I’m falling behind.

We didn’t go home after the wreck. We had a very nice time, and finished our circuit of the country (including going inland to County Rosscommon and also seeing the Rock of Cashel) and spent the last day in Dublin. I managed to talk Mom into a few more trecks through sheep pastures, including finding the seat of the O’Briens, the Carrowkeel tumuli, and a search for Ogham stones that wasn’t very productive. We also stayed several days at Caherdaniel, and went on a day trip to the Skellig Isles (Skellig Michael is AMAZING.)

It was a really nice time, with plenty of moments where my Mom and I got to enjoy each others’ company. I don’t know if we’ll ever get such a chance again, so it was really an important trip for me.

Oh, and Dennis - Thanks very very much for driving us around the Dingle penninsula! You have the best view in the world!
